Course Description
The LOLER Assessor Training provides comprehensive knowledge and skills required to assess lifting operations and equipment in compliance with the Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations (LOLER) 1998. Participants will learn to identify risks, perform assessments, and ensure adherence to safety and legal standards, fostering a safe working environment.

This course will enable the candidates to understand the LOLER Regulations, their duties and to be able to carry out assessments methodically. It, also, aims to increase the knowledge of the candidates to the requirements of these regulations and help them develop an action plan to enable those requirements to be met. This course provides the candidates with an awareness of the Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations (LOLER) and gives an overview of industry best practice in relation to working with lifting equipment.

  • Roles and Responsibilities:(for employers, operators, and inspectors).

Module Two: Lifting Equipment

  • Types of Lifting Equipment and Accessories (Cranes, slings, chains, hooks, and other equipment) and the types for each one.
  • Selection and Maintenance of Equipment and how to choose appropriate equipment based on load requirements.
  • Inspection and Testing Requirements.

Module Three: Lifting Operations

  • Planning and Managing Lifting Operations and its steps to plan a safe lifting operation
  • Risk Assessment for Lifting Tasks
  • Common Hazards and Control Measures (unbalanced load, overloading, etc.)

Module Four: LOLER Compliance and Inspections

  • Steps to conduct a LOLER Assessment
  • Preparing and reviewing Inspection Checklists and Documentation
  • Hoe to Provide Recommendations and Corrective Actions

Module Five: Case Studies and Practical Assessments

  • Analyzing Real-World Scenarios and reviewing past lifting incidents and identifying root causes.
  • Hands-on Equipment Inspection
  • Final Assessment and Feedback
  • Practical and theoretical evaluation of participants’ understanding.

BTS attendance certificate will be issued to all attendees completing minimum of 75% of the total course duration.
