Course Description
This training course aims to equip participants with a comprehensive understanding of hazardous waste management and its critical importance, alongside environmental pollution control strategies and their impact on public health and ecosystems. The course will address current trends, regulatory frameworks, best practices, and practical applications in hazardous waste management and environmental pollution control. The goal is to ensure the implementation of safe and effective management systems that protect employees, the public, the environment, and ensure business continuity.

This course is structured into five comprehensive modules, each focusing on key aspects of HWM & EPC. It includes:

 

  • 70 % Lectures, power point presentations, case studies & group discussions.
  • 30% on practical groups and individual assignments.
  • Comprehensive course handout, resources and reference materials.
  • Written pre-training and post-training assessments.
  • Continuous verbal and practical assessments throughout the training program.
  • Post-training Evaluation/Feedback conducted by participants.
  • Post-training Outcomes and Insights Report conducted by the trainer.

  • Safe handling practices for hazardous waste.
  • Storage requirements and best practices.
  • Labeling and documentation.
  • Transportation of hazardous waste.
  • Techniques for sampling and analysis of hazardous waste.
  • Practical exercise: Identifying & classifying hazardous waste in a facility.

 

Module Three: Environmental Pollution Control Techniques

  • Understanding sources of environmental pollution.
  • Principles of pollution control methodologies.
  • Air, Water & Soil pollution/contamination prevention techniques & remedial actions.
  • Overview of treatment technologies: chemical, physical, and biological methods.
  • Landfilling and incineration: pros and cons.
  • Innovative disposal alternatives and approaches to waste minimization.

 

Module Four: Risk Assessment and Emergency Response Planning

  • Conducting HW & EPC risk assessments.
  • Emergency response planning and procedures.
  • Spill response and cleanup.
  • Case studies of major incidents and lessons learned.

 

 

Module Five: Implementation, Monitoring and Continuous Improvement

  • Developing and managing hazardous waste management plans.
  • Monitoring and evaluating waste management practices.
  • Training & Education requirements.
  • Continuous improvement and sustainability.
  • Group activity: Developing HWM & EPC plans for a hypothetical facility.
  • Training wrap-up and Q&A session.

BTS attendance certificate will be issued to all attendees completing minimum of 80% of the total course duration.
