Gas Compressor O&M Best Practices
Course Description

Gas compressors are critical assets in oil, gas, and industrial facilities, ensuring reliable gas transmission, processing, and distribution. Effective operation and maintenance (O&M) are essential to maximize performance, improve efficiency, extend equipment life, and prevent costly unplanned shutdowns.

This training on Gas Compressor O&M Best Practices is designed to equip participants with practical knowledge of compressor operation principles, preventive and predictive maintenance strategies, performance monitoring, and troubleshooting techniques. Emphasis will be placed on safety, reliability, and operational excellence.

After the course trainees will be able to:

• Properties of gases and gases lows

• Principle operation of each type of compressors

• Compressors classification and applications

• Compressors P&ID “ cooling system – lube oil system – N2 buffer gas – process side “

• Compressors local panels switches and its functions

• Compressors commissioning and MRT

• Compressors startup and shutdown procedures

• Size and select out of the various types of dynamic and positive displacement compressors

using the performance characteristics and the selection criteria that you learn in the course

• Carry out diagnostic testing and inspection of critical components with the knowledge of

common failure modes of compressors by applying advanced fault detection techniques

• compressors sealing arrangements, meet commissioning requirements, conduct vibration and

used oil analyses, troubleshoot, provide predictive and preventive maintenance, enhance

reliability, and reduce cost

• Determine the maintenance required to minimize compressor and downtime ,maximize their

efficiency, reliability, and useful life

• Gain a thorough understanding of compressor surge and surge prevention systems

• Un derstand all the causes of failures in compressors

• Determine all the design features that improve the efficiency and reliability of all compressors

and pumps
