Basics of Fertilizers Plant Operations
Course Description

This course provides participants with a comprehensive introduction to fertilizer plant operations. It covers the fundamental principles, operational practices, and systems involved in ammonia and urea production, including reformers, desulphurization, evaporation, granulation, methanation, steam systems, and waste heat recovery. Participants will gain practical insights into plant operations and learn how the various systems interact to ensure safe, efficient, and optimized production.

By the end of this course, participants will be able to:

  1. Understand the overall operations of a fertilizer plant and key process flows.
  2. Explain the principles and operational aspects of the following systems:
    • Desorption and Hydrolization
    • Desulphurization
    • Evaporation and Granulation
    • Low-temperature CO shift conversion and Methanation
    • Primary and Secondary Reformer
    • Steam and condensate systems
    • Urea recirculation and synthesis
    • Waste Heat Recovery, Boiler Feed Water (BFW), and steam systems
  3. Identify operational parameters, safety considerations, and common challenges in each system.
  4. Apply practical knowledge to troubleshoot basic operational issues.
  5. Interpret case studies to understand real-world plant operations and best practices.
  • Operations Engineers in Fertilizer Plants
