Eligibility Requirements 

To be eligible to apply for the CCBA exam, you must meet these criteria: 

1- Work Experience: 
Minimum of 3,750 hours of business analysis work experience in the last 7 years. 
Within those hours: 
– At least 900 hours in each of 2 of the 6 BABOK knowledge areasor 
– At least 500 hours in each of 4 of the 6 BABOK knowledge areas 

2- Professional Development: 
• At least 21 hours of professional development training in the past 4 years.  

3- References: 
• Two professional references (manager, client, or CCBA/CBAP holder).  

4. Certification Validity & Renewal 

  • The certificate is valid for 3 years.
  • You must earn and report Continuing Development Units (CDUs) to renew.

Application & Exam Process 

1. Submit Application 

  • Complete your online application on the IIBA website with details of your experience, PD hours, and references. 

  • Pay the non-refundable application fee. 

  • IIBA reviews your application (can take a few weeks) and sends approval or “approved pending audit.” If audited, you must upload supporting documents.  

2. Pay Exam & Schedule 

  • Once approved, pay the exam fee. You’ll receive an Eligibility ID. 

  • Schedule the exam via the test provider (such as Prometric).  

3. Take the Exam 

  • Format: 130 multiple-choice questions 

  • Duration: 3 hours 

  • Delivery: In-person at a test center or online proctored (if available) 

  • You typically have up to 1 year from approval to pass, with the option to retake if needed (retake fees apply).  

4. Certification Validity & Renewal 

  • The certificate is valid for 3 years. 

  • You must earn and report Continuing Development Units (CDUs) to renew.
