The structure of the CBCI Certification Course is based on the Good Practice Guidelines 7.0 Edition (GPG) that is reflecting current global thinking in Business Continuity and aligned with ISO 22301, the international standard for Business Continuity Management.
It covers the entire BCM lifecycle and prepares students to sit and pass the BCI’s Certificate Examination at the end of the course.
The course has been enhanced with a mock exam, case studies and module questions all designed to prepare students to sit the examination with confidence.

This training course is intended to meet the current and future technical and professional needs of BC professionals working in organisations of any size, industry or sector worldwide. It offers a comprehensive understanding of the methods, techniques and approaches used by BCM professionals worldwide to develop, implement and maintain an effective BC programme.

· The CBCI is for individuals who are seeking to complement practical experience in BCM with an internationally recognised qualification, moving into a career in BCM or in a role with BCM-related responsibilities.
· This course is aimed at those professionals wishing to achieve an internationally recognised qualification in Business Continuity through the Certificate of the BCI Examination (CBCI).
· The BCI Certification Course is designed for those individuals seeking to complement practical experience in Business Continuity or a related field through some formal BCM training.
· Ideally delegates should have a basic grounding in BCM and its terminology before taking the course, although this is not mandatory as pre-reading material will be provided.

PP1: ESTABLISHING A BUSINESS CONTINUITY MANAGEMENT SYSTEM
· Understand the activities needed to establish and maintain a BCMS.
· Understand why and how the scope of a BCMS should be defined.
· Understand the purpose of a BC Policy and know how to develop an effective policy.
· Understand the role and features of effective BC Governance and know how to establish it.
PP2: EMBRACING BUSINESS CONTINUITY
· Understand the difference between embracing and embedding BC in an organization.
· Know the importance, the characteristics and how to develop understanding of organizational culture.
· Explore the methodologies and approaches to improve an organization’s BC culture.
· Understand why and how BC culture should be measured.
· Understand the benefits and outcomes of embracing BCM.
PP3: ANALYSIS
· Understand the purpose and use of the primary techniques of analysis, Business Impact Analysis
· (BIA) and Risk Assessment (RA).
· Understand the different types of BIAs and the generic activities to develop them.
· Understand the maximum tolerable period of disruption (MTPD) and recovery time objective (RTO), and how these are determined.
· Understand the purpose of the different types of BIAs and the process to carry out the analysis. Understand the content, approval and use of a consolidated BIA.
· Understand risk assessment in the context of the BCMS.
PP4 SOLUTIONS DESIGN
· Understand the purpose of BC strategy and solutions design.
· Learn how recovery strategies and solutions are developed.
· Explore the strategies and solutions that can be used in relation to different resources and RTO categories.
· Understand how unacceptable risks and single points of failure are mitigated.
PP5 ENABLING SOLUTIONS
· Understand the purpose of Enabling solutions, the main activities and how to implement them.
· Learn how a response structure is established.
· Explore the factors affecting communications when responding to incidents and how relevant procedures can be applied.
· Understand how BC Plans are developed and managed.
· Appreciate the purpose and characteristics of strategic, tactical and operational BC Plans.
PP6 VALIDATION
· Understand the purpose and importance of validation.
· Learn about the different types of exercises and why and how exercise programs are developed, conducted and evaluated.
· Understand how and why a BCMS should be maintained and reviewed.
Key Learning Points
The course takes you through the BCM Lifecycle step by step, which sits at the heart of good BC practice and provides practical insights into all aspects relating to the development, implementation and management of a BCM programme within an organisation through the use of case studies and real-life examples.
Six modules that make up the BCM Lifecycle:
ü BTS attendance certificate will be issued to all attendees completing minimum of 80% of the total course duration.
ü CBCI certification for participants may be applied for upon successfully passing the exam and fulfilling the eligibility requirements (optional, subject to an additional fee).
