• Understanding oil and gas fire behavior:
  • Learning how hydrocarbons burn differently than typical materials, including rapid flame spread and potential for vapor explosions. 

• Foam application techniques:
  • Mastering the use of specialized foam extinguishing agents, which are highly effective at smothering hydrocarbon fires. 

• Identifying fire hazards:
  • Recognizing potential ignition sources and areas of high fire risk within an oil and gas facility. 

• Personal protective equipment (PPE):
  • Proper selection and use of appropriate fire-resistant gear for oil field operations. 

• Emergency response procedures:
  • Knowing how to initiate an emergency response, activate fire suppression systems, and evacuate personnel during a fire incident.
