Rig Equipment Inspection, Sizing & Selection
Course Description
This course will increase the participants’ understanding of the different types of rigs and sizing. Planned maintenance and correct inspections are essential for the proper functioning of a drilling rig, reduction of rig downtime and personnel safety. This course presents the correct inspection and maintenance procedures needed to ensure the integrity of equipment on land rigs, platform rigs and jack-up rigs. Candidates learn to implement the correct standards and to understand the requirements of the industry, so that the condition of equipment can be verified and safety improved, thus reducing the number of accidents and protecting the asset.

At the End of the Course Participants will be able to:

  • Selecting rig size and loads
  • Independently carry out a basic (visual) rig inspection
  • Describe the main inspection criteria for major equipment
  • Identify major items that have an impact on the safety and operation of a rig
  • Recognize the indicators of the overall condition of a drilling rig
  • List the relevant standards (such as API) and their implications for drilling equipment
  • Understand the basics of EX equipment installed in hazardous areas
  • Evaluate basic maintenance and inspection procedures on the rig to identify compliance with good working practices and industry standards

Drilling Engineers, Senior Drilling Engineers, Drilling Supervisors, Work over Engineers, Petroleum Engineers, Completion Engineers, Tool Pushers, Reservoir and Senior Reservoir Engineers, Geologists, Production Engineers, Well site Engineers, Foremen, and Industry Personnel.

This interactive Training will be highly interactive, with opportunities to advance your opinions and ideas and will include;

    • Lecture (60%)
    • Videos (20%)
    • Case Studies (10%)
    • Discussion (10%)
